Thevi. Inspiration and Empowerment Through Colors.

What do you do when you can't find makeup that suits your skin. Start your own line, of course. Wife, mother and entrepreneur Thevaki Thambirajah did just that when she started Thevi, a cosmetics line built on the concept of providing a range of cosmetics that suit her coloring. As a former employee of Revlon/Coty, Thevika really understands one of our major concerns: Most Indian skin is often overlooked in the mass market. We're not all mocha lattes like our Black sisters, and we carry tones that are not addressed by the major manufacturers.

Thevaki developed her one- year old, sleek, modern beauty line based around the concept of being natural-- which to her, doesn't mean muted. She embraces the concept of having a colorful line of products, interpreting the term 'natural' colors to mean the blues of the lake and the oranges of a sunset. The philosophy of the Thevi line incorporates the idea of "colors everyday"-- not just during special occasions.

Thevaki's Sri Lankan roots play a big role in the idea of colors everyday. While developing a line of accessible, high-end makeup for the South Asian market, she drew her inspiration from the rainbow of textiles and clothing, and the festival of exciting rich spices that punctuate and define the South Asian landscapes-- starting in the home. Women who feel comfortable with color also tend of express that in their makeup wardrobes. The Thevi line believes women blessed with the darker complexions look best with a little more intense makeup like red lips, strongly defined eyes, visible cheek color and of course, fresh smooth complexions. Take that Bobbi Brown.

Her collection boasts an impressive range of colors and products, from mineral pressed powders to eyeliners, shadows, foundations and lipstick and lip liners. Thevaki's personal favorite product is her Mocha Mate about $20, a dusky deep bronzer. G tried it out and loved it-- it is the perfect way to deepen her tan.

The Indian lifestyle is a strong one which often centers around beauty, and Thevaki has tapped into this concept by bringing to life a brand that will start to identify and define the presence South Asian women. We're reviewing some of her wonderful eyeliners (color stays put!) and lipsticks and foundations.

Her cool website is the best place to buy her products, check it out here at www.thevicosmetics.com.

S already loves the eyeliner (great for that big, impactful Indian kohl- rimmed look and it's only $12!)

We can't wait to keep up with Thevaki and see the Thevi line grow and develop.

Kisses and Hugs!
