Stila Lip Glaze - Soooo Glossy!

R introduced me to Stila Lip Glaze about 5 years ago. I remember the day actually… It was a sunny day in Palo Alto, and I had joined R and her friends for a delicious brunch at a beautiful café. I remember having the buttermilk pancakes with compote & crème fraîche. Mmmmm, I can taste it! Seriously, I want some buttermilk pancakes now! Unfortunately 5 years later my metabolism has slowed down… and I’m trying to get ready for beach vacation in a couple of months! Anywayz, while at brunch R pulled out a beautiful clear tube containing a gorgeous pink gloss. She turned some knobby thingy at the bottom a few times and applied the gloss! Seriously, every girl at brunch stopped what they were doing and said, what is that! I want some!!! R informed us all that is was the Stila Lip Glaze in color Watermelon. Watermelon, ahhh!!! How absolutely scrumptious! We all then began passing the gloss around the table trying it on. Luckily all the girls at the table were of South Asian decent, so the color looked magnifique on all of our lips! Watermelon is this fabulous fresh pink color. It adds this very natural and flattering pink color that makes your lips pop! It is ultra shiny and glossy!

5 years later, I am still using Stila Lip Glaze! It is a constant item in my makeup bag. I like it because it is ultra glossy and unlike most other glossy glosses, this stuff stays on! Some may complain of the stickiness, but I don’t mind it. I need a more serious gloss, because I have a problem... it’s called GES - gloss eaters syndrome. Yes, I invented that… but I really think I have it. I don’t know if it is the shape of my lips, or if it’s because I just talk too much, or if it’s because have really dry lips... (I think it may have to do with my love chatting with friends or really whoever wants to talk to me…) but I apply gloss quite often… like 20-30 times a day! This gloss is on the thicker side and stays on longer. Of course, if it’s windy, or you are one of those girls who does a lot of hair flips (E)… yes, your hair might just get stuck.

One thing that used to annoy me about the gloss is the twist bottom dispenser. The first time I bought it I twisted it for what felt like ages, and then ended up with globs of gloss coming out! I thought to myself, this stuff costs $22, I can’t believe I just lost $5 worth! I mean, it’s not like a cream that you can just rub onto your skin. What a waste of fabulous gloss! Over the years, I have mastered the trick of the lip glaze. I don’t go overboard with the twisting when I first open the tube. Also, here’s the trick to applying the gloss… before I reapply the gloss I shake it a bit, tap the top side of the gloss (with lid on of course!) onto a hard surface, twist the dispenser about three times, and voila! I’ve got some gloss! Yes, some of you may say, this sounds like quite an effort, but really its not!

Over the years I have purchased fab colors such as fruit punch, guava and raspberry. Currently, I am using the color Starfruit. I love this color! The website describes it as a shimmering coral. How gorgeous of a description is that! This is a color that looks fabulous on its own! A perfect fresh faced out the door kind of color. Yesterday, I wore some under eye concealer, some Chanel Joues Contraste Powder Blush in mocha soufflé, some of TheBalm’s ShadyLady Eyeshadow in Mischievous Marissa, and a generous amount of Stila Lip Glaze in color Starfruit. The look was quite pretty, if I may say so myself. ; )

The colors of the gloss are sheer enough that they look great on a variety of skin tones. It also smells quite nice too! In regards to taste… the taste is quite subtle. I don’t really taste that much fruitiness actually. It would be fabulous if each gloss tasted like its name… mmmm fresh raspberries! Well, I’m almost out of my Lip Glaze in Starfruit and look forward to trying out a new color! Stay tuned!

Enjoy your glossy shiny lips!

Hugs,

G

  2. Love this gloss G! :) And that brunch. But seriously - I bought into the gimmick then and I'm still obsessed with twisting. It is fantastic
