mdskincare Antioxidant Enzyme Buff

G reporting from Sunny (I wish)... unfortunately rainy San Jose, CA

I've decided to take a detox break in California at my parents house. Unfortunately, it is raining today and tomorrow, so I must make do with the Pilates DVDs and my new meditation DVD (i'll tell you more about that later), while Lola (whose new nickname is lady friend) and Toby (aka Tobinder San), my parents fat cats, watch me with confused looks on their faces. Like usual, half my suitcase is filled with beauty products. Luckily, when I opened my bag last night there was no spillage or smashed tubs of anything. I am thrilled to try out some new face and body scrubs, masks, and body creams. I am ready to start my zen relaxation retreat at The Pendse Shangri-la. The house is stocked with a selection of yogurts, fiber fruit roll ups, trail mix and my guilty pleasure... San Francisco sourdough bread and cream cheese (I know, I know...).

This morning I took a long relaxing shower and used the mdskincare Antioxidant Enzyme Buff with Berry Seeds & Dead Sea Salt developed Dr. Dennis Gross, a well known dermatologist in NYC. I've been using the scrub for the last week and am quite impressed. In general, I am a huge fan of using body scrubs! I scruba dub dub my body about two to three times a week. Some may say a little excessive... but so far so good. My skin looks and a feels great. I make sure I use scrubs that contain gentle exfoliants and essentials oils and moisturizers to keep my skin soft and smooth.

This scrub in unique in that it contains potent antioxidants and botanical extracts to protect your skin from environmental pollutants. The berry seeds and dead sea salt are excellent exfoliators! The only problem is that if you shave your legs prior, you will feel a bit of a burn from the salt. It is quite uncomfortable. (Shave your legs the next day or the day before!) To protect and moisturize your skin, the scrub contains aromatic essential oils and organic aloe. The combination of all these ingredients helps detoxify, protect and reduce the signs of aging. Usually, by the end of the day, my legs look quite dry, but after using this scrub, my legs look smooth and moisturized! Mind you, I still use a thick moisturizer after I get out of the shower. Some people can get away with just using a moisturizing scrub alone, but I am not one of those people. I have very dry skin, and tend to live in jeans or black leggings, which make my skin even more dry.

The scrub smells fantastic too! It has that relaxing spa smell... lavender, bitter orange, sweet almond oil, grape seed oil... ahhhhh. If you have ever been to the Spa at the Mandarin Oriental... it smells kind of like that. For usage, I like to turn off the shower (perfect if you have a conditioner that needs to sit in your hair for a few minutes... and you also save water) and remove some of the excess water from my legs with my hands. I gently massage the scrub onto my legs in an upward and circular motion. This is great for circulation! After you get out of the shower your legs will feel so silky smooth (I love you Zohan!). Such a luxurious feeling! I hear Irene Cara's song in my head... What a feeling!!!

The scrub retails for around $57! I know...Pricey! I suggest heading over to Sephora and asking for a take home sample to see how you like it. For those of you looking for more natural beauty products, this scrub is vegan, and does not contain parabens or sodium lauryl sulfates. Nice!
Enjoy your new oh so silky smooth skin!

Hugs,
G
