Well Rested

Erase Paste by Benefit -
A good Undereye concealer for the pink-hued ladies.

I am genetically predisposed to having dark under-the-eye circles. I look at my family photos and shudder at the thought of what’s to come. However tragic, there’s other stuff that’s more pressing to focus on like famine, the lack of potable water in developing countries and the unwelcome re-appearance of neon in fashion. All of a sudden under-eye dark regions seem less important and more manageable.

Benefit has finally figured out that the way to make your eyes brighter underneath is to add subtle SHIMMER to your concealer, so the light is reflected, instead of some sort of reverse racoon tickety-tackety, dry, dull mess that other well-used brands leave in the under-eye region. The creamy formula is blendable with a gentle finger, and a quick sweep of Laura Mericer Secret Brightening Powder seals the deal. My friend, V wants everyone to be forewarned! Check it out at the store to make sure this is the right formula for your skin. Don't be fooled by the dusky complexioned girl on the box. V loathes this product. Thanks, V.

This product is great for my ‘quick makeup’— because in just a few seconds it reduces the appearance of the dahhhhhkness. Not for the psycho anal girl who sees dark circles where they don’t exist, or does makeup in bad lighting that make her eyelashes cast a dark shadow under her eye. For the girl who wants to look fresh and human.

Erase Paste comes in 3 levels. I use #3 for my summer look, and #2 or 3 works for my pale professional look.

Other under eye formulas I own, and will sometimes forget that I’ve broken up with them and will re-use them, only to be reminded of all the things I never liked in the first place:
MAC StudioFinish Concealer NW25— I’m being unfair, it’s not that bad. It’s just the thick formula leaves a chalky swipe under my eyes which doesn’t camouflage into the rest of my makeup because I am all about light REFLECTING.

Laura Mercier Secret Concealer— This too-creamy formula disallows finger application and requires a brush, and then you have to blend and then it doesn’t give you enough coverage so you have to keep building on it, but because it’s so creamy it gets all slippery under you eyes and then —— omfg it’s just plain old too hectic. It’s called a breakup because it’s broken! I’ll use it in emergency if all other concealers escape me. But only out of desperation.

Kisses!
